OCC Youth Wrestling Clinic

OCC Wrestling Clinic

This clinic is an introduction to the sport of wrestling. Rules, scoring, and basic
skills will be taught in a non-competitive environment. Each participant will learn
takedowns and finishes, escapes, reversals, and pinning combinations. Wrestling
shoes are NOT required. Participants should wear shorts, a t-shirt, and athletic
shoes. Make sure to bring a water bottle, also.


Registration can be completed through the OCC. When you register, please submit
a t-shirt size to the email address below.

Air Camp for 4, 5 and 6 Grade Girls!

  GIRLS ONLY One Day Event for grades 4, 5, and 6!

  This event will take place at the National Museum of the United States Air Force from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on November 9, 2019.  Air Camp staff are working directly with museum representatives to implement this exciting STEM event supported by the National Aviation Heritage Area AND the National Women in Defense organization.   

Details:

a. Participants will engage in 5 exciting learning modules.

b. Participants will receive a t-shirt (if they enroll before October 23).

c. Participants will be provided with a boxed lunch (unless they choose to bring their own).

d. Participants will receive a certificate of achievement during a brief 'graduation ceremony' at the end of the event.

e.  One flight group will receive the Top Flight Award for their achievements in demonstrating leadership, scholarship, and citizenship throughout the day.

Registration can only be completed online using the link below or visiting aircampusa.org OR aircampusa.com and there is a non-refundable $20 registration fee to be paid at the time of enrollment for the event.  We plan to host up to 100 girls for this event on a first come, first served basis.  There is no residency restriction to attend this event - it is open to all females in grades 4, 5, and 6 from across the country.  There will be a waiting list established in case a participant must cancel their participation in advance of the event.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration at OHS

Community members and families are invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Oakwood High School students Saturday, Oct. 19 from 4 – 6 p.m. in the OHS West Gym.

The afternoon event will include food, dance and other activities.  OHS Spanish students, under the direction of World Languages teacher Helen Gustke, are organizing the event to bring people together and celebrate the contributions of the Hispanic community. 

The event is free and open to all ages.

Support OHS Band Programs!

Join us on at the Fifth Street Brewpub Monday, Oct. 21 from 6-9 p.m. with The Oakwood High School Band Parents Association to raise funds to support all Oakwood Schools' band programs and foster a continued interest in all forms of band music through the Oakwood community.  Five percent of sales, $1 from every "featured" beverage, and all collected tips/donations will go to support their mission!
