Flyer Central

Flyer Central is Oakwood's convenient and eco-friendly way to digitally share information about programs, classes, events and opportunities happening in our schools and around the community to benefit our students and their families.

By enabling our district to go paperless, Flyer Central helps us save thousands of trees each year. Whether you're a parent seeking out local programs and services or a business looking for a way to connect with our families, we hope you'll find this resource helpful.

Some of the activities advertised in Flyer Central are not school-sponsored nor affiliated with Oakwood Schools. Permission to advertise, distribute or display information does not imply agreement of its contents by either the administration of the school, the Superintendent or the Board of Education.

Destination Imagination (DI) is a STEAM-based creative problem-solving competition for K-12th grade. Students work for six months to prepare a solution to a challenge problem that they then present at the regional and state tournaments. This year, two fifth-grade teams, comprised of eleven students from Harman School, are headed to Global Finals, where the best teams from 48 states and 30 countries come together to compete.

While participating in DI at the regional and state level is relatively inexpensive, teams who advance to Global Finals face an almost insurmountable fundraising challenge. There is a $5,500 registration fee per team to compete at Global Finals, along with other costs.

Students who attend Global Finals see solutions from hundreds of other teams, expanding their creative horizons, and thereby enhancing creativity in our schools and community. In addition to developing these skills, students are exposed to other cultures as they observe and interact with students from around the world.

The Oakwood DI Boosters, a 501(c)(3) organization, has been established to assist the students with raising the per-team registration fees, enabling them to experience competition at the global level. These hard-working Oakwood students are asking for your support!

Oakwood DI Boosters is not a school-sponsored organization, but its funds support activities of the Oakwood Schools. Permission to distribute or display material does not imply agreement of its contents by either the administration of the school, the Superintendent, or the Board.
