Oakwood High School proudly announces that four of its outstanding seniors—Rohan Haack, Alex Heid, Zach Ludwig, and Abby Poprocki—have emerged as finalists in the competitive 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. After previously distinguishing themselves as semi-finalists in Fall 2023, these exceptional students have cemented their positions among the nation's brightest minds, poised to vie for $28 million in scholarship awards.
Their remarkable journey underscores Oakwood High School's commitment to fostering exceptional talent and propelling students toward boundless opportunities on the national stage.
Each year, college-bound 11th graders throughout the United States complete the PSAT/NMSQT. Everyone who takes the test is automatically enrolled in the National Merit Scholarship Program, and about 15,000 advance to become finalists.
Finalists submit a detailed application describing their academic performance, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment experience, and honors and awards received.
The finalists represent fewer than 1% of the nation’s high school seniors and compete for about 7,140 National Merit Scholarships.
Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in April 2024. We are proud of our four Oakwood High School students who exemplify hard work, commitment, and excellence!
